Simple tips for Better Communication

  1. Turn off all electronics that could go off during the conversation. They will distract both you and your listener, and effectively kill the communication.
  2. Make it clear what you are wishing to convey from the outset. People need to know in advance what you expect from your communication.
  3. Thank the person or group for having given you some time to listen and respond.
  4.  Keep your listener at ease.
  5. Discuss what you want to communicate with those you feel comfortable around first in order to better develop the message in your own mind.
  6. Be attentive when listening and ensure that your facial expressions reflect your interest.
  7. It is important to look into the other person's eyes if possible and maintain contact for a reasonable amount of time.
